They say the first impression either makes or breaks the relationship of two things, whether it be between two people, a person and an animal, or just about any two connections of anything. I honestly hope this first post doesn't break your relationship with this blog. Sure it's new and made from a not-so-sucessful blogger in the past, but I hope you find it witty and charming noneoftheless, whether you like it or not.
Now, onto business.
This blog is just kinda a way for me to peek into the web and say, "Hi world, it's me - love me or hate me, I'm not gonna change for you." Going into high school next year, so I'm gonna have to start getting to know the world then. Going to Germany in 15 days as well - AHHHHHHHHHH - so that'll also be a big way to do that.
Since I brought it up, going to Germany will be the biggest milestone in my life so far. It'll be the first time I'm away from my family for more than a week (camp works wonders for building you up for this sort of thing) and the first time I've ever flown on an airplane (mom hates to fly, plus airfare for 6 people is insane), as well as the first time I've ever been out of the country. I'm also only a level 3 german student, so I'm not exactly feeling prepared to go to the country where they speak a language fluently that I only barely know. I mean, 3 years is a lot of time, but not enough to prepare you for that. I know I'm gonna have a fun time, though, so not worried too much. My host family seems fairly nice and everyone who's been to Germany that I know says that I won't have to speak German 24/7 since most everyone knows english.
Summer's been fun so far. Beginning was rough with me dealing with the fact that almost all of my friends are going to other high schools and I'm going to the one only my best friend is going to. However, I've been to the movies twice - saw Toy Story 3 both times and it ROCKED - been to the pool multiple times, and I've gotten the best book most likely in the world, Lies.
Gone, Hunger and Lies are books in the Gone series written by Michael Grant. They tell the story of the FAYZ (Fallout Alley Youth Zone) where people over the age of 15 have disappeared at the same moment and only kids younger than 15 remain. All communication means have stopped working - tv's, radios, phones - and suddenly kids start gaining unnatural powers, like being able to run faster than a speeding bullet and shooting lethal laser-like beams of light out of their hands. Bullys start trying to run the town, killing kids to gain power and fear. Animals start mutating. Fear runs rampant. Suddenly, kids who turn 15 disappear as strangely as their parents did. And Sam the main character will turn 15 within a week in the FAYZ.
Just a small description of the book. LOVE them. Seriously - check them out.
Well, that's kinda my life so far - freaking out for Germany, reading an awesome book and preparing for high school. Well, I'll check back in soon. Hope you like this blog so far. ;)
